hatin on the bay? screw you bite me.
BUMP
- Where I'm At
True To Life
yeah, I can't claim bay representation. before starting school at berkeley, i was damn clueless about the bay rap scene, other than the big names (e-40, hiero, dre dog, etc). the first song that got me into it was only earlier this year and that was firestarter 'hyphy.' so yeah, i can't claim the bay, can't claim LA, so i still rep north shore o'ahu, which lacks much notable hip-hop. whatever though, i am just all about good music, and BUMP represents some goodness all around. Click the link and read about it, but these cats from McClymonds High School in Oakland just killed this album created this summer. Speaking on social issues and sideshows, 'realness' factor is high. Cal Students For Hip-Hop helped out a bit, and former SFHH dictator DJ Phatrick was on some next level dedication with this project. But we aint shit compared to the members of BUMP, who can also perform with much sickness.
so peep these two tracks and find a way to buy the album and keep the program going (i was straight hustling this album during the semester...big ups to professor victoria robinson!). "where i'm at" is i think the song BUMP was most stoked on, and that beat is grime. On a loud system it knocks. "true to life" is hype, and mc zion's verse just works. Maybe my favorite beat on the album.
note: disregard the 'skratching' on "where i'm at," i was asked to do it, obliged, and dropped probably the weakest cuts of my life. apologies. good thing it is low in the mix, yeah?
