The Best of Freddie Hubbard Live and In Studio (Pablo 1983)
- I wasn't expecting too much from this...Recorded in 1980 at the Northsea Jazz festival in The Hague, I was just thinking, shit, another Red Clay to put into sets (can't have too many..try scratching along with the solos and making your own. fun, yo!) when I picked it up. This one has some knocking moments though, f'real. The bass hits a little bit harder than the og and stickman sinclair lott kills it. Paging my MPC for a coupla kicks and snares. What makes it doper to me though is the fact that I can listen to the whole thing the whole way through and enjoy it.
Car Wash OST (MCA 1976)
- Garth Trinidad would play this on Chocolate City (my real high school). I was obsessed for a bit. I would just get annoyed that nobody really made music like this anymore or that none of my friends were into it. Stupid Valencia and Hart High. Again, it is another behemoth song, but who cares, it's one of those that you just stop noticing but it still is in your brain making all the happy guns wild out. Oh, and I played this once, and DJ Riddm couldn't figure it out. 10000 points for me, although this is a dollar record and isn't hard to ID, the fact that it was Riddm, who has alternatively been not bad and a COMPLETE ASS makes it worthwhile.
